IBM release Object REXX as an open source project

robert | 15 October, 2004 10:44

IBM has decided to release Object REXX as open source using the Common Public License (CPL) V1. This was one of the scripting languages that I used every day when I was a fulltime OS/2 user, it is like the multitude of Unix/Linux shell scripting languages, but it supports an object oriented syntax

I am happy to see that this language will have the opportunity to be more used now that is free (as in freedom). Also there is a Java? version of it named NetRexx that is free (but it is not open source)

More information about REXX can be found on the Wikipedia REXX page
